The Lady Foxes had a phenomenal team victory against a good Minooka team on Senior Night! It was a low scoring game that saw good defensive efforts by the Foxes. All players for the Foxes contributed in some way whether it was pulling big rebounds, hitting big shots, or diving on the floor for loose balls. Some key contributions were Claudia Grunwald taking a great charge that sparked a momentum boost in the second half as well as making a huge lay-up late in the 4th quarter. Lily Guerra also contributed 7 points and hit a big three early in the game. Freshmen Kenzie Senffner also played her best game of the year scoring 8 points and taking a huge charge as well. And rounding out all scorers for Yorkville was Lauren Daffenberg with 21 points. While being tightly defended all night, she did a great job of finding openings and hitting big shots at big moments. The victory was a great way to honor two very special seniors (Lauren Daffenberg and Lindsay Harrison) who have meant so much to the Yorkville Girls Basketball program. They are both very talented athletes as well as dedicated students! Lindsay is leaving Yorkville Girls Basketball as the leading shot blocker in school history while Lauren is leaving as the career scoring leader. Both are extending their basketball career and education to play at Lewis University and Hillsdale University. Their efforts are commended and they will be missed. With the victory the Foxes improve to 19-6 on the season and 9-3 in conference. Last up in the regular season is DeKalb on Thursday night at DeKalb.
